Built in 1620, it is thought to have been part of the inspiration for the Taj Mahal by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, who stayed here for a couple of years while leading a revolt against his father.
Today it’s a pricey hotel and a fancy location for a wedding celebration. Simple tourists like me can take a boat ride out to the island for 300 rupees.
