Elephanta Island is a popular day-trip from Mumbai for both Indians and foreign tourists. The boat ride is a hearty 90-minutes, followed by a couple-hundred steps up to the caves where the 3-headed Shira tops the bill. It’s a decent outing if you’re on a longer visit to Mumbai, but as far as photos, if it wasn’t for the aggressive monkeys it would have been a tough go.
