The Lonely Planet guidebook warns that Daman “ain’t no coastal paradise” and that is no understatement. But it is an interesting former Portuguese enclave that has a thriving fishing industry, friendly people, good accommodation, cheap booze, and tons of fodder for “Doors and Windows” photography.
The good folks in Daman were also willing to rent hotel rooms to us and gave us a much-needed break from Hwy 8 and a place to recover from our food poisoning.
